Step 4 in our process involves sitting down with your manager and discussing where you are now with your leadership and where you want to be. Take them through your report. Highlight the strengths you identified in step 1 and how you intend to leverage them going forward. Next explain the gaps you identified in step 2 and how you propose to close those gaps with your draft action plan and get their feedback.
Remember, it is your job to come up with the action plan to close the gaps. It is your managers job to enable you to do it. The more effort you have put into your plan the more likely they are to support it.
